Russell Blamey (Project Leader) Visiting Fellow, Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS), Australian National University. Russell's research in the use of citizens' juries evolved from considerable experience in the use of community surveys, particularly environmental valuation surveys such as the contingent valuation method (CVM) and choice modelling (CM). He is particularly interested in how people respond to such questionnaires and, more generally, how they think and act in relation to the natural environment and other social issues. His other research interests include ecotourism, environmental behaviour, regulatory compliance and social marketing. Rosemary James Centre for Resources and Environmental Studies (CRES), Australian National University and CRC for Weed Management Systems Rosemary has some 20 years experience in the management of natural areas, both in Australia and overseas. She has worked at senior levels in conservation management agencies in three Australian States, in both terrestrial and marine environments. Rosemary is a PhD student at CRES, undertaking a PhD in environmental economics. She has a strong interest in the management and evaluation of investment in public land management, with a particular focus on protected area management. Simon Niemeyer Social and Poliical Theory, RSSS, Australian National University. Simon is currently undertaking a PhD. Simon is particularly interested in how the preferences of citizens change as a result of having participated in a citizens' jury. Rebecca Smith Urban and Environmental Program, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. Rebecca was a research assistant on the project in 1999. Collaborators on the project include Mick Common of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, and Jeff Bennett from the School of Economics and Management at the University of NSW (Australian Defence Force Academy). |
